Finding Your Approach to Filmmaking

Auctus Productions hosted a sold out event in Dodd Hall at UCLA, which was moderated by actor and renowned thespian, Mark Capri. The event consisted of two film screenings, followed by a discussion on the vastly different approaches that Auctus took with each film, and how it ultimately led to the final product. They also discussed what it is like to start an independent film company as full-time students.

The night concluded with a Q&A session, an exciting giveaway, and hints of the exciting new projects Auctus plans on filming in the near future!

The following are the two films that were screened along with the approach Auctus took:

Nations United | A World Cup Story

The members shared their intriguing stories and memories from the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and how they seized every opportunity presented to them. With no script and direct plan in place, they began to capture moments in this historic event, which ultimately led to the creation of a documentary that tells the story of human connection through soccer.

Inspired | The Story of NIMANY

This was the premiere of Auctus’ latest documentary at the time, and a first in the arts. The film took over two years to produce due to narrative complications and a change in direction, in which Auctus realized that there are times where you have to take a step back and look with a new perspective to effectively reach the goal.
